Lake Tenkiller Fall Cleanup

             2021 Tidy UpTenkiller Fall Clean-Up September 18
 Tidy Up Tenkiller is a community-generated effort to sustain LakeTenkiller's natural beauty.  This event was created tosolve for removing excessive trash and debris on the lake and along theshorelines due to flooding and tornado damage.   There are also issues of trash and debris along access roadsto the marinas and state parks that are not related to flooding or weatherdamage that we provide assistance with clean up.  Tidy Up Tenkiller is a joint initiative between the GreaterTenkiller Area Association (GTAA) Clean up Committee, Lake Tenkiller areacommunity organizations, Tenkiller State Park, and residents.  Tidy Up Tenkiller was organized to clean up the issue of unsightlytrash, Styrofoam, and the danger of debris on the lake and shoreline. 2021 isthe third year for this bi-annual event.  The total amount of debris collected over the last 5 events is morethan 132,000 lbs. which equals 66 tons of debris removed over the lastthree years.  Tidy Up Tenkiller Fall Clean Up is a 1-day event scheduled forSeptember 18th from 10 am to 3 pm. Gloves, trash bags and safety gear willbe provided as needed, as well as lunch.  This year, Tidy Up Tenkiller is adding an under water clean-up fordivers to bring underwater debris to the surface.  There are 3 areas of “tiding up” on land, on the lake andunder water.  Specific areas for theclean up will be announced no later than September 1, 2021.Dumpster stationswill be easily accessible for trash/debris collected.  For additional information on this event: Visit the Greater Tenkiller Area Association Facebook page at www.facebook.com/GreaterTenkillerAreaAssociation, or contact Kenyatta Wright at 918-207-2585 or kw@tenkillerarea.com Volunteers can register for this event at www.laketenkiller.com.Registration will beavailable no later than Wednesday, September 1.
