THE OKLAHOMA WATER RESOURCES BOARD (OWRB) IS REVISING THE RULE THAT PROTECTS THE ILLINOIS RIVER, BARREN FORK CREEK AND FLINT CREEK FROM PHOSPHORUS POLLUTION.
LET'S PAY ATTENTION AND SPEAK OUT LOUDLY IF NEEDED. THE OWRB COULD GIVE THE ILLINOIS RIVER GREATER PROTECTION FROM POLLUTING PHOSPHORUS FROM CHICKEN WASTE BY HOW THIS RULE IS REWRITTEN.

STIR members played a major part in getting the 0.037 mg/L phosphorus limit adopted in 2002, generating over 500 supportive comments to the OWRB and beating back opposition from those who don't appreciate our scenic rivers including the Oklahoma Farm Bureau.
